about us

Why Healthy Aging India?

What makes us unique is our approach towards the elderly people.
We see elderly people as valuable members of our society whose presence itself binds our social fabric. We strive to enable elderly people towards active ageing- ensuring that their cognitive and physical decline is as slow as possible and they are pursuing a meaningful engagement. For us, at HAI, the elderly are not perceived as ‘recipients’ of charity, or ‘in need of our help’, rather, as the most important members of our families, society, the country, and the world.

Our vision:

HAI envisions a society with equality amongst its members and hence strives to encourage, educate, and empower vulnerable groups of society- primarily elderly people and children.

Our mission:

HAI is on a mission to reach out to the elderly people of all sections of the society through its projects like Seniors’ Abode, Intergenerational Learning Centres (IGLC), and Comprehensive Medical Health Care Van that provide opportunities for dignified and autonomous active ageing

History

Healthy Aging India, an experimental and dynamic not for profit organisation is setting milestones in two most demanding sectors- Primary Health and Education under the guidance of its Founder President, Dr. Prasun Chatterjee, Associate Professor from Department of Geriatric Medicine, All India of Medical Science, (AIIMS) New Delhi and well wishes of like-minded esteemed personalities from multiple walks of life. The motto of HAI is to “Encourage, Educate and Empower” socio-economic disadvantaged groups of people, who have potential but are usually undermined. We are aspiring to provide quality complimentary education to government school children through the Intergenerational Learning Centre-IGLC and comprehensive health care to the elderly population in old age homes in Delhi-NCR. Healthy Aging India reaches out to the community at large and brings health services at doorsteps of vulnerable elderly groups across different regions of the country. The idea of HAI was first conceived in 2011 and registered as an organization under the Indian Societies Act, 1860 in December 2013.
